Editorial Emendations
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
These notes record all editorial emendations in the present text to the first edition of Quebec Hill. Each entry contains the reading of the present text before the "]" and the reading of the first edition after the "]". Thus, "I, 27 wide-extending ] wide extending" indicates that in line 27 of the first part of the poem ("Summer") a hyphen has been added between the words "wide" and "extending" where there is none in the first edition. The emendation to the poem's epigraph has been made on the authority of the text of Horace's Epistle, I, X in H. Rushton Fairclough's edition of the Satires, Epistles and Ars Poetica in the Loeb Classical Library. |
