Editorial Emendations


These notes record all editorial emendations in the present text to the first edtion of The Charivari. Each entry contains the reading of the present text before the "]" and the reading of the first edition after the "]". Thus "2 minstrel’s ] minstrels" indicates that in the second line of the poem an apostrophe has been added where there is none in the original. The note reading "ERRATA.¾ ¾ Stanza 11, line 3, for hollow read hallow" that follows the Appendix in the first edition has been omitted from the present text and its emendation accepted.
